Up close
3/4" real hardwood for anyone who wants a herringbone or other pattern floor with the warmth of oak. Marathi is a medium brown oak with knots and a soft grain, warm and versatile, that works in both classic and modern homes. This sample is the 4-3/4" × 23-5/8" piece designed for herringbone, double herringbone, basketweave and other layouts; the same color comes in 6" straight planks, so you can run planks in one room and herringbone in another. The oak is fumed and lime-washed, with an ultra-matte finish. Per the manufacturer, it is not recommended for bathrooms or very humid areas. With hardwood, what decides how long the floor lasts is what you can't see: moisture in the slab. That's why we check the slab before we install.
