Travertine-look porcelain tile for anyone who wants the style of natural stone without the pores or the periodic sealing that real travertine requires. Caramel is a travertine in a soft caramel tone, the warmest in the line. This is the crosscut, which shows the cloudy, organic pattern of travertine. Smooth matte finish; the same tile comes in a 3D Plus version with texture you can feel. It is rectified, color-body porcelain, with thin grout lines. The manufacturer rates it for interior wet areas (IW+), on floors and walls. With 12" × 24" porcelain, what decides whether a tile sounds hollow or cracks is what's underneath: the leveling of the slab and the coverage of the thinset. That's why we check the slab before we install.
