Up close

SPC vinyl flooring, 100% waterproof per the manufacturer, for anyone who wants the look of wood in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and throughout the house without worrying about spills. Clearwater is a light grayish beige oak, calm and neutral, very popular in modern homes. The EIR (embossed-in-register) surface makes the texture follow the grain pattern, so it looks and feels more real than a flat vinyl. This is the thicker version: 8 mm in total, with a 6.5 mm rigid core and a 1.5 mm IXPE underlayment already attached. It feels more solid underfoot and better hides small irregularities in the subfloor. The wear layer is 22 mil, designed for heavy traffic. Being waterproof on top does not fix an uneven or damp subfloor. Checking the slab and the leveling before we install is what prevents gaps opening between planks or boards that squeak.
