Up close
Soft-concrete-look porcelain tile for anyone who wants a modern, minimalist floor in living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Gramercy Gray is a medium gray with soft clouding, understated and urban. The color clouding is subtle, so the floor looks uniform and calm, ideal for open spaces. It comes rectified, which allows thin grout lines, and has matching bullnose and 2×2 mosaic; the 3.75×12 format works for subway-style walls in the same color. It is porcelain, so it stands up well to water and kitchen stains. With 12" × 24" porcelain, what decides whether a tile sounds hollow or cracks is what's underneath: the leveling of the slab and the coverage of the thinset. That's why we check the slab before we install.
